Reports To: Heights Academy Directors

Job Type: Part Time

Key Responsibilities

Character

  • Model Christ-like character, God-dependency, and church attendance/participation for students and parents.
  • Understand with complete clarity and work to uphold the mission, vision, and values of Heights Church.
  • Show genuine care and concern.

Classroom

  • Provide proactive care/supervision of students.
  • Know and uphold all policies and procedures – employee, parent/student, crisis management, etc.
  • Assist with ensuring a neat, welcoming, well-prepared and managed environment for learning consistent with the school’s mission, values, objectives, policies, and procedures of best practice.
  • Ensure the safety and security for all students by following all school policies and best practices.
  • Provide support for classroom and behavioral management as needed.
  • Step up to lead instruction and/or classroom management as needed.
  • Assist in providing a workable classroom schedule that promotes optimum student engagement and facilitation of the curriculum.
  • Assist the lead teacher to ensure all students’ needs are met.
  • Report all injuries and/or serious incidents to the Heights Academy Directors in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the organization and decoration of the learning environment prior to the beginning of school and throughout the year.
  • Assist with the end of year pack up and storage of classroom/school supplies, rooms, etc.
  • Keep accurate daily classroom attendance.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as directed by the Heights Academy Directors.

Community

  • Collaborate with other teachers and other staff members to ensure each student’s needs are met as needed.
  • Build relationships with students & parents, which transcends the classroom and shows genuine care and concern.
  • Assist with meetings with parents for feedback, concern resolution, and student course correction as needed and/or scheduled by the Lead Teacher.
  • Enthusiastically engage with students during all scheduled daily activities; ensuring all safety precautions are being followed.

Continuing Education

  • Attend faculty meetings and team meetings for continued development, communication, and problem solving.
  • Set and meet yearly goals, seek out professional growth opportunities.
  • Attend school orientation and other training sessions.
  • Attend school and student events as required and/or possible.
  • Collaborate with Directors to create action plans for future growth after reflecting on the feedback from informal or formal observations.

Education & Experience

Required

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Active member of Heights Church
  • A passion for developing and teaching the next generation
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with children/youth
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other teachers
  • Well-rounded knowledge of the education process and subject matter

Desired

  • High school diploma
  • Early Childhood degree in-process
  • CDA
  • 2 years of teaching experience in the subject area
  • CPR/First Aid and/or MAT Certified
